A lot of times when someone says 'it's not you', it's more complicated than that. Is there anything I can do to help, or is staying out of your way the best I can do?

At least things seem a little calmer through text. Don't worry about anything said or done.

Are you feeling okay talking to me now?

[The more he thought about it, the more he had a theory or two, about that underground city. The festival that had crowned Crow to begin with, and those scattering of changing mutations.. Addressing it though..

If it did have something to do with those bugs, then there was nothing to do than stay out of the way and try not to make things worse.]

It's a big house, and I'd rather work on making sure we don't run into each other for a while, than have you suddenly decide to up and move out. I don't have many friends in this place, I'd hate to see you go.

So don't worry about it. I bet it's some other game these 'gods' are playing. I've noticed you changing a bit physically, it wouldn't surprise me if there's mind changes too. I hate this place.

It seems like everything and everyone here wants something out of us, and not the way we were originally either. On that note though!

Having talked to everyone I could who's been here longest, I've come to the conclusion that Liewen, the 'fourth god', does NOT change us randomly into things, and mostly wants to kill the Fog God. I think I can use this, and him, to protect us. Including the people who live here and are not picking a side.

But because I don't know if mind control is part of it, I'd also like people to keep an eye out for me suddenly dancing naked around electric bonfires in the back yard while sacrificing people to Liewen and such. I'll understand if things are a little too delicate right now for you to though.

[For a while Yukio considers what he's going to write.. and when he does, it's pretty lengthy.]

I don't intend to follow him so much as work with him. More like an employer/employee relationship, I have a God I worship and it's none that walks this world, don't worry.

There is a woman in Bavan who owns a bakery. Going inside, you'll have a difficult time lying so be careful. Even lying to yourself is impossible. She is a kind and good-hearted person.

He protects her. From all of this. And he's extended similar protection to others. It seems under that protection, the Fog God's strength weakens. Lately there's been commentary on the network that suggests these two 'deities' are stepping up their efforts to get at us. It seems reasonable to extend an alliance to the one who did not bring us here, has not further cursed us, and hates the one who did this to us as much as we do.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

It's like working with very powerful demons. If you stay within the outlined rules, you're safe. And you can even keep other people safe. I want to protect the people I care about. Yes that includes you! But the thing I've become has skills that won't help with that.

I need something better if I'm to even have a prayer of interfering with the Fog's whims with us. Look at what she's done already. I have to at least try to put a stop to her meddling. Liewen seems to be the best chance to do it.

And if I'm wrong, I will leave and take my skills elsewhere. I'm not just a teacher, and I don't work for free!

Experience tells me this should work. 'Should', but not guaranteed, which is why I am bothering to mention it at all, and want others keeping an eye out for unusual behavior (as you yourself seem to be experiencing as of late!).

Using the idea that such power corrupts and a worst scenario, it isn't unreasonable to think he wants her dead, and vice versa. By destroying their rival, they could become twice as powerful. And so far only one of the two has been ruining our lives, so I'm not very inclined to offer aid to the one who's been doing that.

There have been others who have walked away from these 'gods'. So far, no consequences and no sign of that changing. It could be that they're so desperate for recruits that punishing people who leave would be vastly negative for them as it would incline others to NOT join. A cult can only punish people who leave when their numbers are great enough to absorb the loss and the loss of incoming victims who find out about the punished one.

The rules I make will be the ones I expect him to hold to. In order to gain my service I expect payment, and I expect protection for myself and my friends. He should well understand a business model. It is more secure than a worship model after all. If compliance is not given, I go elsewhere. Nothing prevents me from doing so, certainly not their will or I would already be kissing Fog God ass.

If these 'gods' could simply force us, they would not be coercing so much. Right now we would be actively and happily waging their wars for them.

We are not. They however are still attempting to beg, cajole and bribe us into service. They are not as strong as they wish us to think they are. They are not gods, they are simply very powerful beings. True Gods can't be thwarted by the whims of mere mortals, yet these are vexed constantly by us and the environment! They are powerful, and must be treated carefully because of this, but I think it can be managed safely with enough planning. I've been planning since winter, and think I have a workable method.

At least in regards to Liewen, who was once human. I apologize for the wall of text, but it's probably better to explain too much than too little in this case.

[Yukio teaches how to deal with and murder this sort of being, albeit in reduced strength. It's par the course for him.]

We are all someone's kid. Being called a kid doesn't make one a child. I don't think we are dealing with a child at all. If we were, I imagine our situation would be much, much worse.

In order to return home and return to not being cannibalistic monsters, I think we're going to have to capture and possibly break the Fog God. Doing so on our own may be impossible, especially since our own power is ordinary human.. our powers as monsters aren't our own.

I want to go home too, Crow. I really do.

If you have to fight me, use silver. Holy water does nothing. And if I'm under the influence at the time, don't feel bad about it. Sometimes the only thing you can do for someone who's possessed is put them out of their misery even if they seem to be happy about it. I trust your judgment in that.

Well usually. I do think that one of these gods may be directly messing with you right now, but aside from that, if you can't trust the police, who can you trust?

It's not ideal. But I do think it's the only way any of us will ever be human again, since Day and Night don't seem to want to get involved.

I also know what it's like. I made a living out of it. That's how I know that it's better to shoot them than let them stay that way.

Rin trusts me.

Sometimes. Sometimes they were instructors, sometimes they were strangers. One such possessed was my father. I was not there when he died, by the time we arrived it was too late.

I taught anti-demon pharmacology. I was an exorcist, I taught other exorcists; my specializations as an exorcist were in ranged weaponry and healing the damage demons do to humans. These specializations are called 'Doctor' and 'Dragoon'.

[Yukio still hadn't forgiven Rin exactly for what happened, even though he knew his brother wasn't precisely at fault. Their adopted father had set them both on a path.

Though the response is fairly quick, Yukio's mood's gone from determined to pensive. Things had been easier, when Shiro was alive. Better.]

It's alright. I like to think he's in Heaven now, watching over us and yelling angrily about it all..

It only seems like it happens often because we have to get involved. Like how first responders see accidents all the time but an average person only sees them very rarely.

Honestly it never gets easier to deal with. But if we don't, who would?

On the dubious bright side, it means I'm used to dealing with the sort of potential bullshit I'll have to contend with, with these so-called "Gods". Where I'm from they'd only rate as high level demons, and that I've handled before.

[With help and the backup of the True Cross Academy, but here.. here he had to do it himself. Nobody else should have to take the risk.]

You shouldn't have to for normal people, but not everyone obeys the law!

Duels? Do you use swords or something? That seems worse than guns, more personal risk!

I don't know anyone over the age of 12 that would ever consider such a thing in Japan, and as far as I know those things are very, very popular, along with monster-catching games.

How the heck did your country ever get that sort of thing to actually work?
