It only seems like it happens often because we have to get involved. Like how first responders see accidents all the time but an average person only sees them very rarely.

Honestly it never gets easier to deal with. But if we don't, who would?

On the dubious bright side, it means I'm used to dealing with the sort of potential bullshit I'll have to contend with, with these so-called "Gods". Where I'm from they'd only rate as high level demons, and that I've handled before.

I don't know anyone over the age of 12 that would ever consider such a thing in Japan, and as far as I know those things are very, very popular, along with monster-catching games.

How the heck did your country ever get that sort of thing to actually work?

No, that's alright. I think I'd like to learn at some point but perhaps under different circumstances. The idea that any law enforcement can get by on a child's game seems for lack of a better word really stupid.

But if it works for your people, then it works. It likely results in fewer problems as well, even if I can't fathom relying on such a thing. I don't think it will work here though. I'll have to teach you how to use a pistol, challenging me to a card game if I go crazy isn't going to do much good.

Find a way to force everyone to comply with the rules of card games, and here too it would likely become the norm. Someone somewhere in your history had to have done it, so there's probably a way.

Hurting each other is a part of human nature. It's not the ONLY part of human nature, or the biggest, but it's there. The little parts of our brains still living in the jungle, existing by nature's laws.

Since my presence is not exactly welcome or pleasant for you it may take a bit for me to get around that little problem. And find a gun that works with webbed fingers. I know what to do about the former but the latter will be difficult.

I think there's other ways. I just don't think we can use her own power against her.

This particular problem, possibly by asking Mana for help. I have a small store of coins saved up, and if I'm not a vampire anymore the problem might vanish!

Don't tell anyone though, please. I don't need a lecture on why she can't be trusted either. I know she means well. Just don't touch her pancakes.

I'd like to give the bat thing a try though if you're willing. If you can tolerate me in that shape I can stand being six inches tall for a while.

She, like Tikbalang, can temporarily change our species. I have enough coins, I think, to become something else for a while. If it's vampires you have issues with, I'm sure I can find something else to be for a while.

If it helps you feel better, it also lets me enjoy the summer for a while. It's trying to know that it's beautiful weather and I can't go out so long as there's sunshine.

Might as well make the most of it! Especially if you know a lot of good places. I'll have a month, two at the most, to pack in as many underwater adventures as I can get.

I still think it would have been a good idea to move the healthy humans out of Kulen and burn the place to the ground to prevent spreading infection. I don't think those bugs are ever going to be our allies.

We're just tools even to them. Useful incubators.
