The problem is immediate as soon as Crow attempts to sight down the pistol. Held sideways gangsta-style, it's not possible without doing a lot of twisting around.
The 'cool look' means not being able to aim at all, apparently.

"Even I'm terrible at it and I'm a Dragoon."
He gestures to the magazine. "Put it back in, the exact way you took it out. You load a bullet the same way you checked the chamber, pull the slider back. You'll hear the click."
